POPULAR FAQs

What happens after I place an order with UK Flooring Depot?

After placing an order with us, we’ll keep you informed throughout the process. You’ll receive an email when your order is dispatched for delivery, and another when you’re the next stop on the delivery route to help you prepare. The driver will also give you a brief call to confirm they're on their way. For any further delivery inquiries, feel free to visit our Delivery Information page.

How long is UK Flooring’s delivery lead time?

Fast delivery is important; no one likes waiting weeks for an order. We deliver all products within 2-5 working days. However, if you're not ready to receive your flooring, we can store your order in our warehouse for up to 3 months at no extra cost

What is wastage?

When calculating how much flooring to purchase, it’s essential to add a little extra. Since every room varies in size and shape, you’ll often need to cut some boards to fit, resulting in 'offcuts.' This extra material is referred to as 'wastage.'

We suggest adding 10% to the required amount to cover wastage. To figure this out, just multiply the total square meter area of your room by 1.10, and you’ll get the right amount!

What are Limited Edition products?

Limited edition products are exactly as the name implies—floors that are only available for a short time. Since these aren’t part of our regular collection, we have a limited stock, and once it's gone, we won’t be able to restock. In other words, when they’re gone, they’re gone forever!

Why do my wood flooring planks have varying colors and patterns?

Solid and engineered wood flooring are natural materials, so no two planks are identical. It's completely normal to see color variations, and if you’ve opted for a rustic grade floor, you’ll notice natural knots and imperfections that enhance the wood's charm. These differences will give your floor a unique, aged appearance.

To make the most of these natural variations, we suggest opening about three packs at once and laying out the planks to create the look you want before installation. If a professional is installing your floor, be sure to let them know about the natural variations so they can blend the planks’ colors and imperfections, giving you a beautifully authentic wood finish.

I want to place a repeat order. Will the color match my existing floor?

We're glad you've decided to shop with us again! To ensure the new order matches the exact shade of your previous flooring, please reach out to our helpful sales team, and they’ll assist you with the details.

Vinyl Flooring Questions

What are luxury vinyl tiles?

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVTs) are individual vinyl tiles reinforced with a stone-based backing, making them exceptionally durable. They come in various colors and designs, including those that replicate the look of real wood and stone, providing an affordable alternative to solid and engineered wood.

How are vinyl tiles made?

Vinyl tiles are composed of several thin layers of PVC vinyl, which are treated with various compounds, compressed, and dried using heat and air. This process creates a hard, resilient surface. The top layer may be embossed to mimic the appearance of real wood or stone, and the tiles are finished with a decorative and protective layer.

What’s the difference between Rigid Core vinyl planks and SPC flooring?

The key difference lies in their composition. Rigid Core vinyl is made from a mix of polymers, while SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring includes limestone and stabilisers, creating a more robust core. SPC offers slightly better impact resistance compared to Rigid Core.

What are the advantages of vinyl flooring?

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVTs) are highly durable, resistant to scratches, spills, and stains, and can imitate natural wood and stone. They are available in various patterns and colors, including options not commonly found in traditional wood floors, giving you a broader selection.

Can you put underfloor heating under vinyl tiles?

Yes, vinyl tiles work well with underfloor heating because they are thin and allow heat to transfer efficiently. Ensure you check the maximum temperature compatible with your vinyl to avoid any issues.

What is the best way to clean an LVT floor?

LVT flooring is low-maintenance and easy to clean. Regular sweeping and mopping with a damp cloth will keep it in excellent condition. Avoid waxing or shining, as it could damage the floor’s protective layer.

Is it okay to put LVT in a bathroom?

Yes, LVT is ideal for bathrooms due to its waterproof, slip-resistant, and easy-to-clean properties. It’s also softer and warmer underfoot compared to stone or ceramic tiles, and more cost-effective.

Is LVT flooring suitable for kitchens?

Absolutely! LVT is perfect for kitchens, where spills and stains are common. It’s easy to clean and pairs well with underfloor heating.

How long do vinyl floors last?

Vinyl flooring is very durable and can last a long time with proper care. All our LVT flooring comes with a 25-year warranty, ensuring long-lasting quality.

Does vinyl flooring need underlay?

Most of our LVT flooring comes with pre-attached underlay. Additional underlay is usually unnecessary, but if added, it should be no thicker than 2mm to prevent potential damage.

Does vinyl flooring damage easily?

Vinyl flooring is designed to be hardwearing and resistant to damage from everyday use. It is scratch-resistant and waterproof, suitable for households with kids and pets.

Can you glue the joints of vinyl tiles?

Yes, you can glue the joints if needed, but it's generally not required. If you notice excess movement after installation, gluing the joints at the edges can help. Do not glue our click-fit vinyl tiles except at the joints. Refer to our installation guides for detailed instructions.

What surfaces can you lay vinyl flooring on?

Vinyl tiles can be installed on various surfaces, including concrete, plywood, and existing linoleum, laminate, or tiles. Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level for the best results.

Can I install vinyl flooring myself?

Yes, Luxury Vinyl Tiles are designed for easy installation, often featuring a click-fit system. DIY enthusiasts can install them with basic tools. Installation guides are available for reference.
